SCUOLA VIA GIOTTO, GENOVA

“Like the school, the building that contains it educates”.

The ‘Polo Scolastico del Ponente’ was identified in the project for the renovation and enhancement of the school complex in Via Giotto in Genoa Sestri Ponente, in a strategic area from both an infrastructural and an urban point of view.

The construction of the new pole offers the opportunity to facilitate the transformation of disused industrial spaces into new elements of social aggregation and urban vitality capable of combining the educational function with the recreational/recreational one.

The renovation of the school complex, following the intentions of the original 1961 project (on the amalgamation of pre-existing buildings dating back to 1936), does not simply represent the redefinition of its architectural image, but also the opportunity to create a contemporary school complex in terms of functions and energy efficiency.

The subject of the intervention are extraordinary maintenance works on the façades and roof, internal renovation works with a new layout distribution, and plant upgrading works with remake of the electrical system, renewal of the fire-fighting system and installation of a new air-conditioning system.

The re-organisation and redevelopment of the outdoor spaces offers the opportunity to solve some critical urban issues as well as to improve the perception of the spaces surrounding the complex.
