FURNITURE COMPETITION, B-CAD

Pensilina TUTTOSESTO

The search for a new model of street furniture must integrate the different and multiple aspects of contemporaneity. TUTTOSESTO is a modular structure that can contain different functions, from bicycle storage to toilets, from a city and event information point to a small bar/restaurant kiosk.

Its form is simple: it is a parallelepiped with subtraction of some curved volumes and addition of some “full” elements according to functional needs. In this way, the curved lines of the “voids” are contrasted with the stereometric rigidity of the main volume and offer a dynamic and appealing structure, with unusual visual glimpses and unprecedented perspectives. The architecture results in the contemporary reinterpretation of a city gate and urban arcade, where the historical element of the arch is clothed with new symbolic meanings.

Pensilina Papier-Moeb

The project proposes a new model of public shelter in the search for a furniture that can combine functional and architectural aspects. It is to respond to the current and future needs of urban sustainability where the enhancement of public infrastructure (electric buses, subway, streetcar) takes on an increasingly important role.

The forming assumption of the project is to transform the canopy furniture object into a sculptural and recognizable element in the infrastructural context. The architecture results in a lightweight metal structure, almost a “sheet of metal” that bends and curves in such a way as to transform the vertical supporting structure into a roof.
