“House of the Future defines a new way of living balanced between family tradition and technology.”
Project entered in the House of the Future 2023 competition sponsored by the Dubai government, together with Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment and Mohammed bin Rashid center for government Innovation-in collaboration with the organizers of the Buildner architecture competition.
The proposed solution, in line with the requirements of the call for proposals, is aimed at the choice of simple plastic volumes, to better ensure an effective compositional modularity from a constructive and functional point of view capable of allowing a development of spaces that can be changed over time and/or in the way the lots are aggregated and to best meet the needs of the inhabitants of Dubai.
The design results in a dwelling that develops from the center of the house where the main courtyard is located where all the rooms face. From here, the construction is articulated in a double overlapping L that juts out to the ground, on one side, toward the street and the outdoor garden access to the dwelling and on the other side with part of the first-floor construction cantilevered out, toward the main view and the “private” garden.
The articulation of the spaces develops from the “common” and service spaces to arrive, in the inner courtyard, in the private rooms where, on the ground floor, there are bedrooms and rooms with greater privacy with a close connection to the outdoor spaces. On the upper floor is articulated the living area and the main terrace with swimming pool and common spaces to have a greater view towards the landscape with the only exception for the master bedroom “leaning” towards the outside.
